Recapture the Passion for Making Disciples (Video)
What happens when the church experiences missional drift? Mac Brunson, pastor of First Baptist Jacksonville, FL described, at the 2017 BACE conference in New Orleans, what takes place when we lose our passion for making disciples which leads to missional drift. He goes on to describe how we can recapture the passion for making disciples by examining the ministry of Paul at the beginning of his second missionary journey.
Pastor Mac uses Acts 15:36-41 to provide two principles that can be learned from Paul’s approach to discipleship that can help a church and church leaders recapture the passion for making disciples, thus avoiding missional drift.
Discipleship impacts the culture of the church.
Paul did three things to impact the culture of the church through discipleship.
- Paul educated (strengthened).
- Paul encouraged.
- Paul evangelized.
Discipleship enables the church to impact the culture around the church.
- We should be investing in younger leaders.“It’s time to get off of the sideline and get into the game!”
- Leaders should get off of the sideline and get into the game.
